My husband and I have been married for a little under a year.

I came into the marriage with a lot of student loan debt, poor credit and no savings. My husband has a fair amount of stock, and some credit card debt. He has two nice cars he owns outright, as well put a hefty down payment on the house we live in together. He bought the house just before we married.

The house is his, the car I drive, everything is his. I work for his company, in a position unrelated to my major in college. All the furniture is his, and we had a grand wedding which his family paid for.

My problem is that I don’t feel like we are progressing as a unit, a couple. Everything is his. When we have arguements he sometimes throws statements at me like “This life brought to you by Chris Smith” or “This life brought to you by Chris Smith and family” ( his family helped him buy his business, and I work for him..).

I married him to have a life as one together. I love him. Yet because of our prenup and the his and mine mentality about material items it is hard for me to think about planning our future together. Plus I am stuck paying back my loans and cannot invest in anything, have to pay for healthcare out of pocket because at the biz we have NO benefits.

Anyone have advice on how to move past the barriers and make it easier to think about life as a couple?

We moved to a small town right before we married, because of the buisness. There are limited job opportunities in our area. I make 10 bucks an hour, and even though I am a college grad, I would have to drive an hour and a half each way to try to make more money.

I feel like I should quit working for him, drive the distance, and create some stability for myself. Benefits, retirement, and then at least this life would be brought to myself by ME.

To all who think I am a gold digger, because it will implied. The business is small, and can’t afford to pay competitive wages. 10 bucks an hour is stretching it. If I were in a larger city my job would be salaried at between 65,000-90,000+. Not only that but I only charge him for for 40 hours, and generally work 60 a week. We both regularlly work weekends in order to keep up. If I quit he would have to hire 2 people to replace me and pay them more than I make. I do not want the business and his dreams to fail so I continue to work in this position which is uninteresting to me for little pay. I don’t think he could find people to take over the position, and have them be reliable. I have been working for the business for a year and a half, we’ve together for 7. If I quit and the business failed I would feel guilty. I just feel like I am working towards his goals, his future.
I say his house, b/c I would like to paint and decorate but I feel like I’m living in someones home, not mine.

For your emotional health and for the health of your marriage, you do need to get a job where they value you and pay you what you are worth. Right now, you are practically slave labor and unappreciated for what you do. When he makes remarks about your life being brought to you by him, correct him, and say that it’s being brought to both of you by his family, the ones who bought the business.

The life he is giving you is one of free housekeeper and maid, free provider of sex for him, and way unpaid, and unappreciated worker. What kind of life is this? You need to revisit the prenup agreement. I understand that if the marriage ended after a brief time, he doesn’t want to lose what he financially brought into the marriage. But, you are entitled to a greater and greater share of his assets as time goes by. You are helping run the household you share. You are helping his business profit margin.

Don’t give yourself away. You husband is willing for you to sacrifice and forfeit everything for his financial and emotional gain. He has no right to expect this. You are intelligent, educated, and capable. You have great value as an employee, wife, and human being. It’s time your husband starts showing that he understands this as well, or he’s not much of a husband.

Feel free to show this answer to him. He needs a big wake-up call.

• Hulk Hogan agreed to drop the world title to the Ultimate Warrior at WrestleMania VI because he was planning on retiring and wanted to pass the torch on to his babyface successor so he wouldn't have to come back and get "revenge" on a heel for his fans.*Hogan forced McMahon to give him the strap at the end of WMIX by threatening to no-show his tag earlier on the show with Brutus Beefcake against IRS & Ted Dibiase.

• McMahon wanted a Flair-Hogan main event for WMVIII, but before Flair surprisingly was unable to re-up on a contract with WCW, McMahon signed Sid with the promise he would wrestle Hogan at the next WM. So, McMahon went with a double main event of Hogan-Sid and Flair-Savage.

• Prior to WMX, McMahon had Lex Luger come out with the world belt for a television taping, scheduled to air after the pay-per-view. Either planning a swerve all along or changing his mind after word got out, McMahon had Bret Hart win the three-way tournament between Hart, Luger and Yokozuna.

Neidhart had been fired and was filling contractual obligations, which including jobbing the tag titles to another team. In what should have been a minor point, the top rope broke at one point during the match. The Rockers defended the titles for a week after that, but then Neidhart was re-hired by the WWF, and Vince McMahon decided that the title change never actually happened, in one of the goofier decisions of the 90s, and one of many to affect the careers of Shawn and Bret. As an explanation, a story was sent to Pro Wrestling Illustrated about the rope break causing an "unfair working environment" for both teams, and hence the title reign was annulled. This was simply to cover up for the fact that they reported the title change as fact a week prior and needed a reason to no longer report it as such. The title change was edited out of the Main Event broadcast, and thus went down in history that the Rockers never had the belt.

I am planning to get married in the next 2 years and want it to be perfect, im starting my research now. I know what i want, i just want to know the best way of finding it. Ideally i would like a venue in the North of london or outskirts with access to the M25 Area as half the guest will be coming from Enfield and Half from Warwickshire. I would like to invite 250-300 guests and some of them will need to book a room for the night. there must be parking for most of their cars! I dont mind if the ceremony and reception are held in the same room, but i will need a break in between the two for the room to be set up for the party.I would like to seat my guests at round tables and I want a buffet,i wondered if its pos to have it set up by another company other than the hotel/venue we choose as there are specific foods i would like. What are the averavge costs for venue hire including tables and chairs, and does it cost more for two rooms? And where are the best places in my chosen area?
Also, i dont need waiters as such or a d.j but im sure i will need a small number of staff at hand to set the rooms up, how much do they charge for this, do most hotels provide it, do they let you do your own or do you have to hire someone from outside.

As we are a mixed faith couple we are having a fusion wedding, with this in mind we will be planning something to make it very special for each of us nearer the time but we will obviously need someone neutral to marry us such as a registrar- how much does this cost?

do most hotels and popular venues have bespoke wedding packages which are flexiable? if so what do they offer? as there are many things which i would like to organise myself it is mainly the venue, seating, tables etc that i wish them to take care of.

thanks

any input is great!

Hi there. To be honest, you have asked a lot of questions that you will need to ask a venue as you obviously know what you want. My advice to you is to use the internet to have a look at venues in the areas you feel are feasible. I got married in the Royal Chace Hotel in Enfield and it was beautiful. The settings are fab and they are very accommodating - we also are of mixed backgrounds.

Good luck whatever you decide to do!

I am currently working as a mechanical engineer. I interviewed with a company last October, but no position was available then, yet he said repeatedly he was very interested in me, etc. I received a call from the director of the office that interviewed me this past Wed. He said that he had a position available. I talked to him two days ago and he said he is going to send me an offer letter via snail/email. The thing is, I like to smoke pot once in a while to wind down. I don't during work, or when I have to drive. I met up with a friend one Friday after work and got busted for possession and para. neither was mine. All because I was in the car. Possession got dropped. Got 90 day supervision for the paraphernalia. Both misdemeanors. Please spare me a lecture about how terrible pot is. However, I haven't received an email or a letter with an offer. You think he did a background check and it came up? Any way I can tell? Or would he have done it in October when I interviewed?
It was just a little over a month ago.

You will get a background check when you have the job. The misdemeanors are a very negative part of your background. They are usually looking for major convictions. If you were at a young age the time period may be considered

My fiancé and I are planning on a road trip to America for our honeymoon next July. We'd like to see as much of California as possible in 3-4weeks. We obviously would've just paid out hugh for our wedding so we're hoping to do the road trip as cheaply as possibly.

Obviously paying for gas and motel/hotels, how much roughly do you think it would cost? I remember when i was on holiday in Florida a few years ago you can get rooms for $20 a night.

Or do hire companies rent cars/vans you can sleep in too? and can you just pull over and sleep any where?

Thanks!!!

We drove the Pacific Coast Highway for a month and we were able to do it on a very tight budget. The most important thing you can do is contact the local visitor’s center for each city you are planning on visiting. Ask them to send you their FREE visitor’s packet; this has maps, attraction information and COUPONS which saved us a ton of money on our trip. There are some places where you can get hotels/motels for like $50 a night depend on what city you are staying in I might try to stay away from some of the cheaper ones. They are usually not located in great areas. I would also look into staying at hostels; they can be way cheaper than motels/hotels and a great way to meet people. Most have private rooms and dorm beds for rent. I might also suggest camping a night or two, campsites are cheap and well you can still go out to eat. We would camp like every 4th night to save some cash. It wasn’t bad and you don’t need much since you are doing this for only a few nights. Most of the places we camped had everything you need, showers and stuff like that. There are some great places to camp in CA some awesome places right on the beach. This can be better than any hotel/motel.
The other thing that I recommend is take a cooler with food, eat at least one meal out of the cooler a day; this can save you a ton of cash. We made it a point to bring sandwiches, drinks and other snacks. Getting them at the grocery store is much cheaper than stopping at the gas station for a soda. When you get low on supplies just stop at the nearest grocery store and fill up on supplies. There are all kinds of state parks and picnic areas that are free to the public. I cannot stress the need to plan and over plan for this long of a trip. Believe it or not 3 weeks away from home is a long time, make sure to pay all your bills in advance so you do not have late fees. Have your mail stopped and pick it up when you come back, have a neighbor pick up newspapers in the yard so it looks like someone is home. Get some timers and have your lights rotate. You don’t want to come back from vacation and have something happen while you were gone. I also recommend to over budget for gas. Right not depending on when you are going gas is running about $3.30 a gallon if not higher. This can change over the course of your trip so be prepared; I would also over budget for hotels. We did not book any of ours in advance and had no problem finding rooms. Plot your course and make sure it is gas friendly, don’t cut back to cities saves time and gas. I would also look at some of these websites if you like wacky roadside attractions these will help you find them. There are some crazy things to see if you are driving Highway 1, all kinds of things will just jump out.

I think you all would have a great time doing this trip, trust me if you can spend 3 weeks in the car with someone you can spend the rest of your life with them no problem. Be sure to stop at the visitor’s center everywhere you go they have coupons for everything and hey 15% off dinner is better than nothing! With some good planning and your eye out for deals you all will be able to do this. We spent a month and only spent like $1700, so trust me it can be done on any budget! Congrats on your wedding and have a great trip!

I need to hire a Merc, BMW or similar for a wedding in Stratford Upon Avon and as I am 29 I'm having trouble finding a company that will hire me a car.

Hi,

Have you tried Europcar ?

Kind regards,

P.S. you could also say that you're a friend of Shakespeare :-)

under limo hire. Phone around and haggle

I am setting up a wedding car hire business and need to know wether I need a public hire licence, i hope to do wedding hires but also proms, anniversarys and maybe race days and airport runs, all jobs will obviously be booked in advance, please help. ( England based company)

You don't need a Public Hire Licence. That is for a vehicle which is available to be hailed in the street (London Black Cabs, bus etc)
You need a Private Hire Licence if your vehicle can carry less than 9 passengers.
It is explained very well here

My daughter is getting married in september this year and her partner and herself have financed almost all of it themselves. We are buying her wedding cake for her. She has asked my partner to take her to the venue ( 5mins down the road) in his MG. Its the only really nice open top car any of us have. Unfortunately it has only 2 seats, I'm giving her away and although I don't mind not riding with her, I do think it will be a bit of a squash in her dress but she is unfazed and happy to use this car.
I have telephoned and emailed numerous wedding car companies to explain that we only need the car for approx 1&1/2hrs at most. 5mins drive to venue, hang around for 1/2hr to have some pics done afterwards.
Unfortunately everyone has quoted a cost of £too much! Some have said we must have 4hrs hire, which seems such a waste.
Does anyone know someone who does this sort of thing as a sideline? I'd love to surprise her with something special that is affordable by myself. Thanks

If he's a real MG fan (especially if he's a member of the MG Owners Club), getting in touch with the owners club may help. There are lots of classic 4-seater 1950s MGs about - and someone may be willing to help.

Looking on behalf of a friend - he wants to hire a white open top beetle for his wedding next year. Any ideas welcome.
Thanks!
